Louis Vuitton Malle Mars to Commemorate 40th Anniversary of First Lunar Landing

09.08.04-Tracy-Louis Vuitton Malle Mars to Commemorate 40th Anniversary of First Lunar Landing 03 Recently if you enter into Louis Vuitton official website, the very first picture to meet my eyes is three men sitting on an old car and gazing at the full moon. On the car is most classic Louis Vuitton Monogram handbag. The picture was shot to commemorate first lunar landing. You must be very familiar with the three heroes, Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride, widely known astronautic heroes in America.

09.08.04-Tracy-Louis Vuitton Malle Mars to Commemorate 40th Anniversary of First Lunar Landing 0109.08.04-Tracy-Louis Vuitton Malle Mars to Commemorate 40th Anniversary of First Lunar Landing 02 40 years ago, two men, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin embarked on a voyage that was once deemed to be impossible, landing on the moon. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of this significant milestone in human history, Louis Vuitton has released an all-in-one suitcase for astronauts, the Malle Mars. This metallic case is shaped like a bullet or an egg. Open it, you will discover this egg is functional. A great many compartments is angled to conform to the shape of the rocket. And the considerate design of small cubbyholes and large drawers can diversify all your daily essentials for the astronauts’ journey. Besides it also includes a small folding chair.

Now this Louis Vuitton Malle Mars, along with a collection of items from NASA’s Apollo 11 Archive, is on display at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at American Museum of Natural History

Louis Vuitton Leopard Fur Ear Muffs

For the new Fall Winter 2009 advertisement campaign, Louis Vuitton chooses Pairs to present its new products. Among all the gorgeous new fashion items, I am especially like this Leopard Fur Ear Muffs.

The muffs made from leopard fur are really exotic and creative. This cult leopard motif is designed by the renowned American artist Stephen Sprouse. It is a combination of 100% mink, 100% fleece lining and 100% silk ribbon. What add more intrigues to this item is the gold finished LV graffiti designed by Stephen Sprouse. It is true that these mink ear muffs are a luxurious and eye catching accessory.

Leopard Fur Ear Muffs, Louis Vuitton Accessories, M72402

You may have noticed the common ear muffs before. Then you can tell the difference between them. Yes, other muffs have a solid frame in it. This LV muffs are attached with a single silk ribbon. And the secret lies in the concealed clip to keep them in place. In this way, you can fold this into a small piece to slip into your handbags when you are not wearing them.

Louis Vuitton Stand By Me Collection

I once heard a classic description of true love. It is said that true love is not two people stand facing each other, but rather a couple stand by each other and move on to the same direction. There is much wise in these words. That is exactly what life and love are about. And this new Stand By Me collection by Louis Vuitton design house is to tell the story of true love.

The new Stand By Me collection is modeled after Louis Vuitton's iconic trunk handles. Symbols of love, these rings and necklaces are the essence of powerful emotion. Perfect gift for a special occasion or simply as a token of affection, these creation embody the expression of Stand By Me.

09.07.08-Spring August-Louis Vuitton Stand By Me Collection02

Among all the 65 rings and 28 necklaces, you can definitely choose one to suit your mind for your loved one. As to the ring, they are in various designs, such as that of the large fleur ring, the rectangular fleur ring, the emprise diamond ring, the monogram ring, the louisette ring, the gracious graphic ring and so on. As to the necklace, you can choose from many different styles, like the fleur choker, the fleur medallion necklace, the eclatantes necklace and the iconic stand by me necklace. They are either made from white gold or made from yellow gold, together with diamond and other precious materials. What's more, some of the finely detailed gold necklace can be personalized with an engraved name or message, which will make the necklace unique and more valuable.

Developed Luxury

1 Long ago, luxury goods just offered people who lived in majestic houses with a full complement of servants. They prefered Louis Vuitton trunks and Christian Dior trousseaus, but far away from fashion. They wanted "classic" style, just like their politics- conservative- determined largely by consideration of safeguarding their wealth and perpetuating the social conventions that ratified their sense of superiority.

It is a big difference from now. Luxury not only belongs to celebrities, but also to our normal people. Maybe you cannot afford a house in Paris's 16th arrondissement or an apartment on New York's Park Avenue; you also can buy a Louis Vuitton handbag or a bottle of Dior perfume with your enough disposable income.

Now, so many officers tote a luxury brand through their hard working, never mind that they were born into a family whose ancestral home is a tract house in the suburbs. That group of people has a sense of entitlement that transcends social class, a conviction that the finer things are their birthright. They believe shopping is a form of self-expression and consumerism. They revise the notion of luxury and force more brands join in the intensive competition.

Luxury is developed. It is not only in Europe and American, but also enters into Asia. It does not only grasp classic items, but also follow fashion. From every year fashion week, you will know what polished trend is this season. From Hollywood style, you will personify the change from the discreet. More and more luxury brands know elitist approach prevails for most of this century.

What about next century? What will happen to luxury at that time?

China Luxury Market-Not Just a Bed of Rose

Every company on any industry is struggling on the economic meltdown, especially for luxury companies. When Europeans and North Americans tighten their belts, newly-emerging wealthy classes in China are desperately chasing for anything that will shows their affluence and status. However, it is predicted that China will become the one of the biggest luxury market in the future as its neighbor and archrival-Japan, but out of those optimistic hype, it is still a tough nut to crack.

09.06.15-Tommy-China Luxury Market-Not Just a Bed of Rose 01.jpgAlcoholic beverages is always the precursor to a new market. Although almost every brewery in China adopts foreign formulas or technologies, luxury liquor producers still doubt with the prospect. Champagne house Taittinger said it could make high-end sparkling wine in China but the market was not ready for it yet, while Lamborghini said the country's tradition of luxury chauffeurs, bigger than sports driving, made expansion there a challenge. The luxury watchmaker's Chief Executive Jean-Marc Jacot said. Taittinger said there were many places in China where it could consider making high quality sparkling wine - champagne can only be made in the northern French region - but Chinese palates were not accustomed yet to the pricey tipple. "It is probably a bit early," Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger said. "There is not a strong (high-end) wine culture there yet."

Another concern is business culture diversity. Jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, owned by Richemont, found it tough to get its brand message across, while watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier worried about finding the right partners. "The specific challenge about China is finding a Chinese company you can trust and who understands the luxury business,"

Counterfeits are always the top obstacles for luxury companies to succeed in China Market. Hermes, whose chic handbags are hand made in France, would consider making goods in China if it could find artisans to make original items, but said it suffered from counterfeiting there. "Our image is strongly damaged by counterfeits. That is why we are fighting it like hell," CEO Patrick Thomas said. "When they (in China) see a counterfeit, they think it is genuine."

09.06.15-Tommy-China Luxury Market-Not Just a Bed of Rose 02.jpgCounterfeits cost luxury groups hundreds of millions of Euros in lost sales every year and imitations are becoming increasingly refined and sophisticated." The challenge in China is being able to explain to 1.3 billion people what your brand is about," said Van Cleef & Arpels Chief Executive Stanislas de Quercize.

While the number of high net worth individuals in China is set to continue to rise steadily, the bulk of the country's population cannot afford up market Western brands. But luxury groups agree that China, where consumers are very brand-conscious, will soon become the industry's No 1 market and this year will be one of the few emerging markets to enjoy growth. So it's certainly a rose bed but you have to nurture it by heart.

Louis Vuitton will Advertise on Television!

1 High-end fashion brands and luxury goods companies have generally avoided television advertising, sticking mostly to magazines and, in some cases, newspapers. Nevertheless, Louis Vuitton planned to advertise on television this time, with a travel-themed 90-second spot that was shot in France, Spain, India and Japan.

Rather than celebrities like Catherine Deneuve, Andre Agassi and Mikhail Gorbachev, this Louis Vuitton will show ordinary people. According to Louis Vuitton official version, Louis Vuitton advertisement aims to promote the brand itself, rather than a specific product. A Vuitton bag makes only a fleeting appearance in the advertisement, which asks, "Where will life take you?"

Louis Vuitton hopes through this way to reach new audiences in fast-growing markets like China, where the image of Vuitton may be less established than in Western countries. "It is supposed to touch our clientele and viewers in ways that perhaps other media will not touch," said Pietro Beccari, Vuitton's head of marketing. "This is a way to say Louis Vuitton is different. It is something éphémère, but also something that stays."

Anyhow, without television advertising, sales of Louis Vuitton products have been rising in the first nine months of last year, particularly rapid growth in China.

Depreciating in China, Louis Vuitton!

09.05.31-SANTORINI-Depreciating in China, Louis Vuitton! Undoubtedly, China has to be the luxury market with greatest potential in world. Especially in the economic crisis, almost every luxury brand desperately squashes into China to hold their high profits, such as Louis Vuitton. But what has happen for years? Does everything happen as they wished?

Obviously, Louis Vuitton gets great success in China. It implies women that own Louis Vuitton is a great glory. It is not only a handbag and a bracelet, but also money and status. That is the unique point for Louis Vuitton- though sales volume is huge, it never discounts.

It announces that all handbags are made individually at Louis Vuitton's secret workshop- it balks at the term factory- in Aseni?res-sur-Seine, northwest Paris. This is also where the Louis Vuitton laboratory does its testing. A mechanical arm lifts a handbag loaded with a 3.5 kg weight then drops it on the floor to test its durability.

Another piece of equipment bombards bags with ultraviolet rays to test resistance to fading, while zips are tugged open and shut 5,000 times. This vigorous procedure ensures a Louis Vuitton bag rarely fails to justify its lifetime guarantee.

However, when you find Louis Vuitton everywhere in China, even the hobo carrying a luggage in monogram logo, are you still persistent to keep up with the new styles? Or, prefer other more special luxury brand, like Hermes, key-low yet sumptuous. Each is special, each needs to order.

Louis Vuitton is embarrassed in China. Once a person totes a Louis Vuitton handbag, the first question haunt people are whether it is an authentic? Does he/she really afford it or just run out of his/her wages of several months to get it? That is to say, Louis Vuitton does not convey money or status any more, at least in China. Celebrities are suggested order other luxury brands to show their taste.

Louis Vuitton is depreciating in value over years in China. It does get huge profits in China now, but not mean forever.

Hennessy V.S, Dancing on Tongue

Hennessy V.S, Maurice Hennessy, Richard Hennessy

Scents of oak and vanilla, hints of red berries followed by lighter notes of hazelnuts as well as floral notes, it is Hennessy V.S, a must-have accessory for cognac aficionados, which compliment the vibrant and exhilarating taste of Hennessy.

In 1865, Maurice Hennessy, the great grandson of the Founder, Richard Hennessy, was the first to systematically classify cognacs. Inspired by a decorative star symbol on his office window, he awarded a varying number of stars to designate the different quality levels. Thus was born the House of Hennessy's first Three Star Cognac, better known today as V.S (Very Special).

Hennessy V.S is an exquisite blend of more than 40 different "eaux-de-vie" selected for their vivacity from the best growing areas of the Cognac region and chosen for their vivacity. It can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks but it is also ideal mixed or in cocktails.

Just as the cognac itself has become a luxurious, sought after brand, this exclusive, limited edition Hennessy V.S Flask is destined to become the first in a trend of upscale collector's items.

Updated Louis Vuitton Website

090505-updated-louis-vuitton-website-09

Through months' extensive renovation, its American www.louisvuitton.com website would be revealed. Early this week these renovations were revealed. Customers perusing the USA version of the website will now be able to see prices for every single item in the Louis Vuitton catalog. In addition, Louis Vuitton is now offering e-shopping through its website (previously the ONLY authorized online retailer was eLuxury - also owned by LVMH). Perhaps my favorite new feature is that when you purchase through the website you can also order heat stamping (your initials stamped into your bag or luggage tag in a variety of different fonts and colors). I am so thrilled with these new changes, and have spent the last day clicking away and updating my wishlist with prices and website links to help direct the PHH (purse hating husband)!

Protect Mother Earth-Louis Vuitton Makes Donation to The Climate Project

Clamate Change is an inevitable problem both for ourselves or our children. It should be taken into consideration for everyone in the world. Louis Vuitton North America announced that 15% of all sales made through their online store would be donated to The Climate Project. Louis Vuitton has been actively pursuing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment over the past few years. What better reason than to shop when you help a good cause?

protect-mother-earth-louis-vuitton-makes-donation-to-the-climate-project1

Q:With so many organizations to choose from, what was the appeal in partnering with The Climate Project?
The Climate Project has made great strides in educating people all over the world about climate change and the solutions that will be necessary to solve the crisis. Louis Vuitton is a company steeped in the tradition of transmitting heritage, and has always has a special interest in sustainable development. In recent years, Louis Vuitton has concentrated its efforts on reducing its Carbon Footprint, because as a result of our geographic expansion and of our business model, we have realized that air transportation of products is the primary source of our greenhouse gas emissions. The company now favors transport of products by ship, far mre environmentally friendly than transport by air (as of today, 60% of all leather goods are transported by ship).

Q:We read that Louis Vuitton has made efforts to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. What have you done to decrease the company's carbon footprint?
We implemented the Carbon Inventory in 2004. This Inventory has allowed us to accurately measure the impact of our activities on the environment. Since then we have been efficient in modifying our organization and reducing our carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, this initiative has raised environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility of staff members throughout the company. To name a few examples, we have:
Reviewed transportation methods of products (use of sea, river and
Rail wherever and whenever possible)
Reviewed packaging (use of eco-labelled paper for all packaging)
Reviewed store energy consumption (all new stores consume 30% less energy due to new lighting concept)
Reviewed all environmental friendly actions at Louis Vuitton headquarters (which has received the ISO 14001 certification in Octobern 2008)
Created green buildings (Louis Vuitton central warehouse in Cergy, France (2007); Louis Vuitton Shoes Workshop in Fiesso, Italy (2009)…)
Created an internal "Environment Task Force" worldwide to exchange best practices between different regions and countries

Q:What are your immediate expectations with your partnership with TCP, and do you foresee these types of collaborations extending into the rest of the fashion industry?
Environmental sustainability concerns all of us. The luxury industry, which is synonymous with beauty and excellence, must strive even harder than others to be exemplary in preservation of the environment. As a leader in luxury, Louis Vuitton has the responsibility to intensify its efforts to reduce its environmental impact of its activities, and also to raise awareness by encouraging a collective commitment both inside and outside the company. Partnering with The Climate Project, known worldwide for its actions and its achievements, enables us to promote awareness of the climate change and what can be done to help.

Q:Can we expect to see any eco-friendly pieces by Louis Vuitton, namely a handbag?
We are focusing on the most important and urgent matter, which is to reduce energy consumption, resulted from transportation and other activities. Ecological products are not a priority in this sense how ever new eco-friendly materials are constantly proposed as an alternative.

Battered Luxury Brands Eye Chinese Market For Growth

While the developed world tighten their belts and focus spending on daily necessities, the big luxury companies are looking to China's new rich to buy their jewelry, clothes and bags.

The Chinese market shows remarkable resilience in the financial crisis because it has an increasing number of people able and willing to buy luxury goods, says Guo.

"Unlike the mature traditional markets, demand in China is far from saturated either materially or psychologically."

The high-end market, which was once believed to be immune from economic downturn, has seen weakening sales growth or even declines in the traditional markets of the United States, Europe and Japan, analysts say.

090414-tommy-battered-luxury-brands-eye-chinese-market-for-growthA study by the Bain & Company consultants in October predicted global luxury goods sales growth would slow sharply to 3 percent to hit 175 billion euros (220 billion dollars) in 2008. The slower growth rate stood in sharp contrast with 6.5 percent in 2007 and 9percent growth in 2006.

The study also forecast the luxury sector would face its first recession in six years in 2009, with sales declining by up to 7 percent.

A report from Deutsche Bank says the market will contract 5 to 10 percent in 2009.

However, experts say the Chinese luxury goods market remains resilient.

An estimated 415,000 Chinese had more than 1 million U.S. dollars in disposable assets in 2007, more than any other country, according to the Merrill-Lynch Asia-Pacific Wealth Report released in September.

"The spending power in China is spectacular", says Daisy Moon, assistant PR manager of Tiffany & Co. China, which achieved its sales targets last year and seems little affected by the financial crisis.

A Gucci spokesman said in an e-mail to Xinhua that China represented one of the most dynamic areas of retail growth for the firm, with 2008 sales growth in the mainland at 42 percent. The global profit for the company edged up 0.2 percent from a year ago.

Gucci had 25 stores in 17 Chinese cities as of January, when it opened three new stores. It is looking to open its Shanghai flagship store in May.

LVMH claims business profit was up 2.1 percent from a year earlier to 3.63 billion euros in 2008, but sales in the United States fell 4.03 percent and in Japan 5.16 percent last year. However, the group stressed in its annual report that performance in China was "solid" and strong.

Cartier, the French jeweler and watchmaker, is planning more stores in first and second-tier Chinese cities after posting double-digit growth in 2008.

Yan Jun, managing director of Beijing-based Ecole Fashion & Luxury Consulting Ltd., says the expanding middle class constitutes an important group of consumers who desire and can afford luxury goods.

"Aged between 25 and 40 and living in developed regions, they are fashionable, mature, and passionate about lifestyle and quality," he says.

Up to 170 million people, or 13 percent of the population, can afford luxury brands and the number will reach 250 million next year, according to the China Association of Branding Strategy.

The government aims to build "a well-off society" by 2020, with per capita GDP of 3,000 U.S. dollars. Developed regions, such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou and Wenzhou, with a total population of more than 300 million, will see per capita GDP exceed 15,000 U.S. dollars.

Bain & Company predicted the Chinese luxury market would see growth of 20 to 35 percent in the next five years. The Ministry of Commerce says China will become the world's largest luxury market by 2014, accounting for 23 percent of global business.

"It is almost certain that China has surpassed the United States to become the second largest luxury market after Japan. There is still a lot of room for development," says Yan Jun.

He believes the huge potential will definitely attract more brands.

"I am going to Italy to give a lecture about luxury management in China this June. I have been told a lot of executives of luxury companies will attend and they are eager to know more about the Chinese market and how to enter the market," says Yan.

"The Chinese market is so desirable that international luxury companies are speeding up their quest for a share."

Louis Vuitton at COMME des GARCONS, Merger of Oriental and Occidental Culture

Modern Fashion derives from Europe and North America but flourishes in Asia even in the economic downturn. Comme des Gar?ons which means "Like boys" in french is a japanese fashion company with more than 12 boutiques and around 200 vendors around the globe. Louis Vuitton, the fashion icon from French has collaborated with Comme des Garcons for a long time. But not until recently did the special brand "Louis Vuitton at COMME des GARCONS" come into the market.

Below is a light yellow card holder. It's handy, durable but has nothing special except the new logo. A little bit disappointed for me.

090403-tommy-louis-vuitton-at-comme-des-garcons-merger-of-oriental-and-occidental-culture-01

But the brown party bag is impressive. The collection is particularly designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Louis Vuitton in Japan. LV's classic elements are inebriated in the bag body and the 8 handles are absolutely eye-catching with the combination of Japanese traditional art and French futurism style.

090403-tommy-louis-vuitton-at-comme-des-garcons-merger-of-oriental-and-occidental-culture-02

As Rei Kawakubo, the owner of Comme des Garcons said, she redesigned the classic LV Handbag series to pay tribute to history of the French luxury brand. We can expect more innovative and ethical designs in Louis Vuitton at COMME des GARCONS collection. That's where the merger should go for.
